Code of Conduct
Rationale
The purpose of the Code of Student Conduct is to promote and uphold the Lakeshore Collegiate Institute Statement of School Philosophy. At Lakeshore it is the right and responsibility of every student to ensure a positive and safe learning environment or everyone. Our goal is to build an academic and school community in which human dignity and respect for self , others, property and learning will be promoted. The Code of Student Conduct is intended to clarify expectations for students with respect to acceptable behaviour and attitudes. It also provides a basic for the appreciation of acceptable, effective social and interpersonal skills. It is the responsibility of every student to know and follow this code.
Lakeshore Collegiate Code of Conduct
1. Personal Appearance
Students must dress appropriately for a school settings so that everyone is comfortable and no one is offended. Clothing which displays offensive, suggestive, rude slogans or pictures, or is revealing is not allowed. Any clothing that could be construed as gang-related is prohibited. This includes the wearing of bandannas, wearing one pant-leg up, etc.
In order to address safely and security in our school, Lakeshore C.I. will be implementing a NO HEADGEAR policy effective September 5th, 2000. Except for religious reasons, students will be required to remove ALL Headgear (caps, bandannas, hoods etc.) upon entry into the school building.
2. Responsibility to Identify Oneself
For the security and safety of all, students are expected to identify themselves when requested by any staff member. All L.C.I. students must buy a SAC for $15.00. This card is for identify purposes but is also needed to join all extra-curricular activities, borrow library books or attend dances.
3. Illegal Substances
The possession and/or use of alcohol or drugs will not be tolerated anywhere on school property. Students under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be allowed at school sponsored events either on or off school property.
Possession or use of drugs or alcohol is a serious offence for which a formal suspension is consequence and police may be notified.
TDSB Code of Student Conduct
It is the mission of the TDSB to provide "learning environments that are safe, nurturing, positive and respectful." TDSB schools are violence-free environments that promote a sense of belonging for all students. The TDSB and Albert Campbell C.I. do not tolerate violence of any kind at school or during school-related activities. The ACCI Code of Student Conduct is implemented in accordance with the Toronto District School Board’s Code of Conduct, the TDSB Safe Schools Policy and provincial legislation and policy. This Code of Student Conduct also reflects the values and expectations of ACCI.
